Perugia, Assisi and Lago Trasimeno
Leaving from Florence at 8:00am, the first place we will visit is a lovely artesan town on the shore of the Lago Trasimeno, in the border between Tuscany and Umbria. It was the scene of a famous battle between the Romans and the Carthaginians led by Hannibal.
Then we will head to Perugia for a walk in the old town, that will enchant you for its gothic architecture, the Palazzo dei Priori, the Catherdral and the Fontana Maggiore, besides the Rocca Paolina.
The last and most important stop of the day will beThe last and most important stop of the day will be in Assisi, the city where he lived one of the most important saints of the Middle Ages: San Francis. The city is entirely built with stones of Mount Subasio and has some colors (white and pink) very characteristic. Not to be missed are the basilicas of San Francis and Santa Chiara, the medieval streets and the Temple of Minerva. Returning visit the basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli and Porziuncola.
